I know a stupid bloke at my school who brought an airsoft gun straight through customs from Hong Kong with each separate piece in each of his families bags and got through. Not really related to a deactivated Airsoft gun, but still, it's illigal, so best just to wait untill we get the big OK from the good old Government officials or you could face a nice fine/jail sentence
To the Government, anything that even slightly resembles a Firearm of any type (even if it is de-activated/replica) is illigal to bring into Australia, let alone own one withought the correct documentation. I saw a bloke that tried to bring a lighter in the shape of a .357 Magmum Pistol on Airport Secruity on the TV once, he got absalutly OWNED when the Customs officers saw it in the X-RAY machines...
